Things to Do in Escalante
Lower Calf Creek Falls
Perhaps the most famous trail in the region, this 6-mile round-trip hike leads you through a stunning canyon carved into Navajo sandstone. The grand prize at the end is a spectacular, 130-foot misting waterfall dropping into a clear, refreshing pool—perfect for a mid-hike swim.
Peek-a-Boo & Spooky Slot Canyons
Located down the historic Hole-in-the-Rock Road, these two interlinked slot canyons offer a thrilling, hands-on climbing and squeezing adventure. Peek-a-Boo features beautiful swirling sandstone arches, while Spooky gets appropriately narrow, measuring just 10 inches wide at certain points!
Escalante Petrified Forest State Park
Located just minutes from the Inn along the shores of Wide Hollow Reservoir, this state park features trails winding through hillsides covered in colorful, 100-million-year-old fossilized wood. It’s also an excellent spot for canoeing, fishing, or enjoying a scenic lakeside picnic.
Scenic Byway 12
You don't even have to leave your car to witness world-class beauty. Designated as an All-American Road, Highway 12 runs directly past our front door. Take a breathtaking drive across "The Hogback"—a thrilling stretch of highway paved along a razor-thin ridge with drop-offs on both sides—offering panoramic views of the canyon country.
